Iceland, Land of Ice and Fire (10 days)
Iceland is a magical place. Known as the land of ice and fire, it offers a variety of landscapes for us to explore during this trip. Iceland's capital Reykjavik is the starting point for our trip.
Day 1: Fly to Reykjavik; spend the night in Reykjavik
Day 2: Travel by bus to Landmanalauger and the start of the trek
Day 3: Trek from Landmanalauger to Hvatinnuskar - trekking through lava flows and snow covered plateaus with steaming vents to a remote mountain hut.
Day 4: Trek from Hvatinnuskar to Hvanngil - trekking across a snow covered plateau before descending down to green valleys with views of old volcanoes. Some river crossing is required today.
Day 5: Trek from Hvanngil to Botnar-Emstrur - trekking through lava flows and across large cinder fields with some river crossing required.
Day 6: Trek from Botnar-Emstrur to Porsmork - trekking along the river flood plains with a river crossing before entering the woods en route to Porsmork.
Day 7: Travel by bus back to Reykjavik for a celebration dinner!
Day 8: Return to UK or
Optional day trip to the Blue Lagoon Spa and/or shopping in Reykjavik
Day 9: Return to UK or
Optional day trip to the Golden Circle to visit Gulfoss waterfall, Pingvellir, Iceland's early parliament meeting place and Geysir
Day 10: Return to UK
Grade:
A route with a reasonable amount of ascent and descent requiring a good level of fitness and some previous summer hill walking experience.

Optional Extras:
For those looking to make the trip a little more comfortable, we can organise for accommodation in mountain huts, rather than camping, for an additional fee.
For those wishing to stay in a hotel rather than the YHA, participants can book their own accommodation in Reykjavik.
For those wishing to just undertake the trek, then either return home or continue with their own trip, then this is possible.
