Wainwright Memorial Walk (11 – 12 days)
This is a route devised by Alfred Wainwright in 1931 for him to show three friends the best of the Lake District. The route is 102 miles in length and is done over 11 to 12 days depending on whether a rest day is taken. Day 6: The Buttermere Circuit
Day 7: Buttermere to Wasdale Head
Day 8: Wasdale Head Circuit
Day 9: Wasdale Head to Langdale
Day 10: The Langdale Circuit
Day 11: Langdale to Ambleside (return to Windermere)
A route with a large amount of ascent and descent requiring a good level of fitness and previous summer hill walking experience.
